Coconuts & Kimchi, the perfect combo - Introduction
A journey from one of the most modern cities in the world to a tropical paradise. Also, famous military battles and how they can inspire your daily life.
You may wonder Coconuts and Kimchi? Sounds like a terrible dish. Let me just say straight off this is not a food guide or how to make exotic sauces using Coconuts and Kimchi. However, that does sound like an appealing challenge for the future.^^
As my background is Polynesian I selected coconuts as they are essential to life in the middle of the ocean and reflect my ancestors. Why Kimchi you may ask? I have spent over 20 years in South Korea and its reflective of another chapter in my life. Which during my upcoming series of newsletters I will cover in more detail.
This is a newsletter that will hopefully inspire you in life or at least get you to think about challenges and how you might not be as alone in your endeavors as you think. Hopefully, by reading these newsletters you might approach situations and challenges successfully and
1) Sleep well at night.
2) Wake up every morning with an unparalleled energy, drive, and clarity to seize your day.
3) Strategize and look at daily problems with a historical approach.
4) Realize you are not alone as you may think.
Maybe a little about myself, I’m originally form New Zealand and I arrived in South Korea halfway through 2000. A very daunting move at the time I came from a multimedia background and headed to a country I knew 2 things about
The Korean war
The pro democracy riots of the 80’s
Life definitely headed into an exciting and brand new track that you don’t normally envision at the start of your day. When travelling you learn about about languages, culture, and more importantly about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, and how to overcome challenges. As I reflect on my time in South Korea it was well worth the experience.
Many of these I will discuss in future newsletters.
Over twenty years later it is time to focus my energies on heading home and seeking new challenges.
Welcome to a brand new and exciting newsletter by me, Mata. A fortnightly newsletter that will hopefully inspire you and reflect on steps to achieve your goals in life.
This newsletter will cover two key areas.
Firstly, closing down one established chapter of life in a dynamic, robust, and modern city in North East Asia. Relocating to an island in the middle of the ocean. Building and designing a modern self sufficient house off the grid, and setting up a number of businesses in order to achieve financial freedom. What are the steps and challenges in order to achieve this?
Secondly, discussing key military figures and battles from history and taking those lessons to improve your goal setting and daily life. Outlining how historical events are still relevant to the modern world and hopefully, inspiring you to greater challenges.
Stay tuned for the next edition in a few weeks when we will begin our journey.
“Feed your focus, starve your distraction.”
